Rose Knight, lead singer/songwriter, has been singing and performing since she was a child with her first performance at the Toys for Tots charity show with her mother, Tokyo Matsu, at the world famous Palamino Club in LA. Rose continued to tour and open shows for her mother throughout her school years getting to share the stage with such artists as Dolly Parton, Tanya Tucker, Kitty Wells, Mark Collie, Lee Greenwood and more. After graduating, Rose performed one season in Branson, MO at the Country Music Show Palace with her mother, Tokyo Matsu as headliner and then moved back to Nashville after the season ended and started working behind the scenes at Warner Bros. Records Nashville in the publicity and artist development dept. getting to work with such WB artists such as Faith Hill, Travis Tritt, Keith Urban, Little Texas, Randy Travis, Dwight Yoakam and more. Rose continued to make music while working at WB writing weekly with Nashville songsmiths and doing studio/demo work while collaborating and performing in a number of duos/bands participating in weekly writer’s nights. Although Rose had the opportunity to play her music for the heads of the famous 16th Avenue Country Music record labels, for the desision makers, commercial Country Music was not ready to integrate an Asian Redneck Country Girl into the Country Radio box, so Rose’s music took a turn towards pop/rock. The next step was “Dirty Girl” an alternative rock project produced by Denny Knight, all original songs self penned. The “Dirty Girl” project took off and Rose was having fun performing live in the Nashville area doing alternative rock shows with other Nashville local bands such as SPOUT, Mellow Down Easy, Medicine Man, Death Cab for Cutie and more. “Dirty Girl” came to an end in 2001 Following racy “Dirty Girl”, Rose did another alternative pop project “Confessions” produced and co-penned by Bob Saporiti, retired GM of Warner Bros. Records Nashville for Martin Howell of Serengetti Records UK. In 2002 Rose was awarded Grand Prize in the Rocket To Fame Atlanta Songwriting competition with her song “Judgement Day” that she co-wrote with rhythm guitar player and producer, Denny Knight and Adam Shoenfeld of Big and Rich. In 2004, rose’s song “Slaves and Gypsies” was made a dance mix by King Kooba of OM Records UK rockin’ the London Dance floors. Rose now resides on the Northern California Coast and plays/writes music with her beloved local Mendocino players, Steve Garrison (Woody G Spot), James (Big Stick) Dexter and Joe Pardini (MOJO), joining Denny Knight to form RKB. In 2010 Rose and Denny Knight received a “Collective Works” award from the “Song of the Year songwriting competition” with a song placement page http://www.songoftheyear.com/results/roseknight.html.
The Rose Knight Band recently participated in the Rising Stars Battle of the Bands for charity and won 1st place in the Rock category in Ukiah, CA 2011. for more information go to http://www.risingstarscompetition.com.
