Twenty-nine year old Jaz Tyler is one of Nashville’s hottest new artist and is creating quite a buzz in music city. Even though she and her family now live in Nashville, music city wasn’t always the place that she called home. When I asked Jaz about where she wanted me to say her home town was she kind of laughed and said “J. I want you to say I’m from MY home town because a person can only have one. I believe that you can’t know where you’re going until you know where you’ve been.” As her biographer, I thought it was so important to show the world such a real side of an artist who works in a very image based business. Jaz Tyler is one of the sweetest, fun and down-to-earth artist that I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with and I hope to work with her for years to come.

Jaz Tyler was born December 12, 1981 and grew up in Pearson, Georgia as the oldest of three children. Jaz started by singing for her family and then, in church. She gave her first public performance at the age of six and participated in show choir, as well as, in 4h’s ‘Clovers and Company’. After high school, she attended college where she was a member of the all college chorus and earned a degree in Speech Communications. After the attacks of 9/11, Jaz wrote a song entitled ‘Tribute to America’ that circulated on public radio for several months and charted in the top ten for weeks. Jaz sold around eleven thousand copies of the song by word of mouth alone and donated all of the proceeds to 9/11 orphans. Trisha Yearwood also performed Jaz’s song at a fundraiser for 9/11 families in 2002. Even though Jaz had a taste of success, it wasn’t until 2006 that she decided to get serious and head to Nashville. Jaz lived in Macon, Georgia at the time and made several trips a month to Nashville where she met and teamed up with Nashville Music Group’s® Grammy nominated producer/engineer Denny Knight. Jaz raves about Knight saying that “he is truly one of the greatest people I know and I am where I am because he believed in me”. With the support of her family, Jaz poured every available resource into the production of her album. Jaz says the very thought of the magnitude of what was at stake was almost overwhelming but that she had faith that God would lead her to the place she needed to be. Jaz has performed for crowds as large as ten-thousand and has fans all through out the world.
